MOFFIE

About Event

With **David Viviers** ***Moffie*** made its world premiere in London in 2024 to rave reviews, including a 5-star rating from The Guardian, before enjoying a sold-out season at The Baxter Theatre in 2025. This is a gripping, visceral exploration of identity, masculinity, repression, and the lasting scars of institutionalised violence. Set in the brutal world of the South African Defence Force in the 1980s, this stage adaptation of André Carl van der Merwe's novel dives deep into the pressures of military conscription, a world where conformity is law and any difference is met with violence. Director **Greg Karvellas** Writer **Philip Rademeyer**, based on the novel by **André Carl van der Merwe** Sound **Charl-Johan Lingenfelder ** Lighting Design **Kieran McGregor** Supported by **The Common Humanity Arts Trust (CHAT)**
