ICA LIVE ART FESTIVAL | Unmasking Masculinity

About Event

'Unmasking Masculinity' is a 30-minute performance by Thabiso Heccius Pule that confronts South Africa’s urgent crisis of gender-based violence through traces of emotional fragility often hidden within men, creating a rare space for vulnerability, accountability, and healing. At its core, it honours Tshegofatso Pule & victims of GBV, transforming statistics into human stories that demand empathy and collective responsibility. Movement, imagery, and digital immersion collide to challenge dominant narratives of masculinity and reveal the cost of silence, fear, and unprocessed pain.
