About Event

'Phallic Smash' by Qondiswa James is an experimental live art work exploring consent, nuanced sexual violence and the accumulation of childhood and intimate experiences. Through storytelling, clay, ritual destruction and a proposed act of staged penetration, the work moves between personal testimony and a live negotiation with the witnesses around the nature of consent. The work creates a temporary ethical situation in which the audience must locate their own agency.
