Garden Day

About Event

Join us for a beautiful day in the garden as we celebrate our annual Mayville Garden Day, Sunday, 18 October 2026, in the beautiful historic Mayville Garden in Swellendam. This year we celebrate the wonderful healing potential found right outside our doors. The day will focus on medicinal herbs and plants that can be grown in our own gardens, exploring their traditional uses and the simple pleasure of turning garden-grown herbs into soothing and restorative teas. Garden Day is an important annual fundraiser for us, and all proceeds from the event go towards supporting the Drostdy Museum and specifically the Mayville Garden, helping to preserve this special part of Swellendam’s heritage for future generations. **Your entry ticket includes:** - Guest speaker Prof. Nokwanda Makunda at Stellenbosch University, talking about medicinal plants in your garden - A tribute to Gwen Fagan - Flower Crown workshop - Open garden at Bukkenburg Pottery Studio - Flower arrangement demonstration - Access to Mayville House of the Drostdy Museum - Tea & confectionary - Infused tea tasting - Live music Looking forward to seeing you there!
